| Name: | Captain Amelia |
|---|
Character: Captain Amelia
Series: Treasure Planet
Version: During the star going super nova in the movie.
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Captain Amelia is a tall, shapely anthropomorphic cat with slanted blue eyes and a beauty mark above the upper left corner of her mouth. She wears her auburn hair fairly short (around chin-length) and swept back, away from her face, and over this she sometimes wears a blue tricorn hat with gold trim. Amelia is clothed in a slim, banded white turtleneck and a pair of tight, khaki-colored pants that are mostly concealed by thigh-high, high-heeled black boots. The good captain wears a royal blue naval long coat with gold trim, three large gold buttons, and epaulets on the shoulders. The collar of the coat is turned down, allowing the turtleneck to peep out. The ensemble is completed with white gloves that flare out near the elbows and allow Amelia’s claws to remain out, should she need them. Amelia also wears light blue eye shadow and red lipstick.
Personality: Amelia is a confident, capable woman with razor-sharp wit. She has a no-nonsense, gung-ho attitude wherever she goes, and this has earned her the respect of many, as well as a commanding air she keeps about her at all times, even when the situation is grim. She tends to speak quickly, using quirkily complicated phrases to describe others (“A ludicrous parcel of driveling galoots,” for instance) and situations. When her anger or annoyance is aroused, she tends to speak sharply, with sarcastic, somewhat condescending tones (“Let me make this as monosyllabic as possible”). She is warm and engaging with people she likes and respects, often heaping playful praise upon such folk.
Amelia enjoys sailing the starry skies, and often displays an adamant enthusiasm, as well as pride, whenever she does so. In times of tragedy, she is a rock, determinedly carrying on even when she is stricken with grief. She prefers being blunt to subtlety, even when she’s in a playful mood, and remains brave no matter the situation.
Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: As a feline being, Amelia is agile, swift and sure of foot, able to run across treacherous surfaces with ease. She can land on her feet from considerable heights (such as from the top of an impressive mast) easily, not being bothered by them in the least; not only that, but she is capable of leaping fair distances quickly. She is also an accomplished fighter, competent in the use of flintlocks (as well as several other firearms, a rapier and dagger, as is befitting of her station), and she keeps her head in the heat of battle. She has considerable physical strength as well, despite her build; she is easily capable of holding on to a ship’s helm even in the midst of disaster.
Amelia is also in possession of sharp claws and fangs, and in a pinch can use them in battle. In addition to this, her claws can be used to assist in climbing.
Weaknesses: Amelia tends to ignore her own injuries, no matter how serious, in favor of moving forward. Depending on the situation (and the severity of her injuries), this can lead to Amelia becoming more hurt than before and sometimes worse. Her bluntness has the potential to hurt feelings and pushing others away; despite this, the captain refuses to change it. She also tends to be commanding at all times (even when wounded), and this, while it can improve morale for the disheartened, can also make the situation worse by raising the hackles of those who disagree with her command, among other things.
In addition to all this, her ears give away her emotions without fail (for example, when they’re back, she is angry), and to someone who catches on, it can make her very easy to read.
History: Amelia was born into privilege, with a higher-class family who paid for everything she could ever want or need. She was the middle child of a litter of six, and as such felt the need to distinguish herself from her siblings (two younger sisters and three elder brothers). Even so, she largely dedicated herself to studying in her parents’ library, often reading star charts and learning of the voyages of several legendary spacers (the notorious Captain Nathaniel Flint among them, which brought about the glimmerings of what would turn into a stalwart dislike for pirates). In time, as it turned out, she graduated from the Interstellar Academy with honors and immediately set out to make a name for herself, serving in the military for a few years before rising to the rank of “Captain” and earning a ship for herself, a lovely vessel that she named the R.L.S. Legacy.
As its captain, Amelia has countless battles and journeys across the starry expanse, but even with that experience, she never expected to be thrown into something that would become a legend in the making. Shortly after a run-in with the Protean Armada (“Nasty business, but I won’t bore you with my scars.”), she found herself carrying a suspicious crew, a clueless (albeit brilliant) astrophysicist by the name of Dr. Delbert Doppler, and the delinquent Jim Hawkins en route to Captain Flint’s fabled Treasure Planet. After warning Dr. Doppler of the dangers of blabbering on about treasure maps in front of the aforementioned crew and dismissing a disrespectful Jim to cabin duty, she took control as always, overseeing the launch and making sure things were going smoothly.
Unfortunately, as legends in the making tend to go, the good captain found herself in the middle of a star storm, when a star going supernova ended up devolving into a black hole. The ship’s pilot was blasted away during the seemingly erratic waves and Amelia, as always, took control, piloting the Legacy. During a particularly powerful wave, however, she was blasted into Paixao, leaving a very surprised and disoriented captain to figure out her new surroundings.
